May 08, Rhomy rated it liked it Shelves: It was an ok book. It made some interesting key points, but overall it was not what I expected. I knew it dealt with debt but I expected something else besides that.

Nonetheless, I believe that indebted people could find it interesting and make good use of the exercises and tables it provides, especially to realize in which situation they are in and how to slowly reverse it. Nice financial information Nice finance book. Mostly didn't like how it was written. Emphasized how his method was a proven way to get debt free too much and talked about god way to much for my taste.

But finance advice was on point through the book. Aug 24, Jeff rated it really liked it. Everyone who makes or uses money. All should read it and teach it to their children.

I liked the book better than listening to the book on CD. Dave Ramsey himself reads the book on CD and I found him a little obnoxious in his tone and attitude. This book breaks down the steps to finding financial peace by getting out of debt. There are several steps, I'm on step 2 which is systematically paying off everything but the house. I've managed to pay off all debt other than one car, although another set of braces is right around the corner.

I may not finish this step for another year, but I'm motivated! I love the success stories included in the book and Ramsey's philosophy of spiritual-emotional-temporal security by being in control of your This book breaks down the steps to finding financial peace by getting out of debt.

I know I am asking myself why I live the way I do, paying the bare minimum of my school loans off from month-to-month when I could probably afford at least a little more, if I cut the soy lattes and got my shoe addiction under control. The logic being, of course, that down the line, I would be able to afford to douse myself in soy lattes and buy all the shoes I want because I would be!

Why didn't I think of that? Mar 15, Karina rated it really liked it Shelves: I didn't spend a whole lot of time looking through this book, but from what I saw it's mostly for those who struggle with handling money, and for those who don't really know how to budget, and have a lot of debt. It looked like much of the same information that was in the actual Money Makeover book, it just had quizzes and budget sheets and things for you to fill out for your particular situation.

We have lived on a strict budget for a long time, and I feel like we are pretty good with our money, so I really didn't feel like this book was for me. I gave it 4 stars because I felt like it could really help those who need it, it just wasn't something I needed.

Jan 05, Leah Morris rated it it was amazing. I loved this book. I had heard of Dave and his 7 baby step process but didn't know that much. This book changed my family's lives. Mar 21, Natalie rated it it was ok Shelves: I just could not take the religious aspect of this book. It is NON-fiction, so including so many references to a super natural being made no sense to me. Dec 17, Keith Christensen rated it it was amazing.

This is a book about budgeting, about getting rich slowly all the while living life comfortably, with dignity, happily, but not without sacrifice. He quotes over and over that you must live like no one else so you can live like no one else. In other words, you must sacrifice things now that no one else is willing to sacrifice, so you can reap the rewards of those sacrifices over the long term and live like others can't.

He talks about how to get your financial plans in order, and he a Must read. He talks about how to get your financial plans in order, and he assumes you live on an average or below average income.

And he creates a plan for you to get your car, house, college and retirement all paid for on an average or below average income. It especially surprised me how many things are possible on an average income. But the thing about this book I loved, even more than the possibilities for life once you have your finances under control, is the peace that comes not from needing to worry about money.

Debt is bondage, and you can become free from that bondage. I agree that if you owe money on your things, it's more difficult for you to enjoy those things. If you are willing to make sacrifices to be free of financial worry, this book is for you.

I'd heard Dave Ramsey's praises sung by many that I respect when it comes to financial advice, and I finally got around to reading it during summer in preparation of buying a car.

From a literary standpoint, Ramsey isn't well-written. He EVERYONE should read this book! But honestly, it made me remember the keys to his plan for financial freedom, which were FANTASTIC, and completely worth reading and revisiting.

Ramsey isn't an author - he's a financial guru - so his writing style really doesn't matter, as long as his plan is understandable. While his style wasn't the best, I really valued having read the book - especially the testimonials written beebs and her money makers bandcamp This book is mostly a workbook with outstanding resources to get your financial life in order.

Forex practice account uk Ramsey has great insights, although this is not so much a book about managing money but changing lifestyle.

I think Dave focuses on two extremes, those who are extremely terrible at money management and turning them into extremely stringent savers.

I may not be able to travel for marathons when I'm 65, and the kids are only young once. I would've benefitted from a middle of the road approach, if nothing else to compare to Dave's more extreme examples.

But I understand the purpose of the book is to completely change behavior and lifestyle, and this generally takes a more extreme approach. Jan 03, Edward Tse rated it liked it. Cassandra replication strategy options review has been hidden because it contains spoilers.

Being someone who does not need a budget makeover but a budget revision, it was sobering to hear that if I want to plan for excellent I need to start thinking and moving out of mediocrity. Financial freedom starts with being out of debt, and that means striving to pay off all loans to be able to invest the money that monthly goes toward the payment of debt.
